We’ve always called it the "Gangsta Walk" refined, but Jookin is so much deeper than a label. It's about ownership. Owning your space. Owning your story. The smooth glides, sharp pivots, and the freedom to control your rhythm come from the streets, yes, but they go beyond them. We’re talking school hallways, house parties, and street corners where the concrete became our stage. This is where we let our frustrations, our dreams, and our stories slip into motion, creating something that would become a global force.
For a lot of kids, Jookin was—and still is—their escape from the realities Memphis throws at you: crime, poverty, the whole system pressing down. But every glide we hit, every slow-motion spin, was a pushback. It’s defiance, a way to show that from the cracks in the city’s foundation, we can make something beautiful, something resilient. Jookin is resistance. It’s our statement that we’re here, and from these streets comes something that can’t be ignored.
